When a young girl from Nagpur arrived in Mumbai for a holiday, little did she know that kismat had huge plans for her- plans that would change the course of her life. Meet Mreenal Deshraj. Her tryst with acting began when, on a vacation to the city of dreams, she was spotted at the Prithvi theatre. Mreenal began her career as an actor, with theatre veteran, Nadira Babbar’s play, Ekjute. Seven plays later, Mreenal bagged her first television role in Balaji Telefilms’ Kahin Toh Hoga. As Shipra Arora, the negative lead, she soon became a household name.
Mreenal belongs to an illustrious family which holds a rich background in culture, sports, and social activities. As a Mayor of Nagpur, her grandfather, Pannalal Kanhaiyalal Deshraj, contributed to the welfare of the city in a huge way. Her father, Kiran Kumar Deshraj, an accomplished arm wrestler, is currently the Vice President of International Armwrestling Federation (USA) and Vice President of the Indian Powerlifting Federation. Added to his list of honours, he is also the 1st Referee at the International Grade level. Her mother, Dr.Rajyashree Deshraj, an Ayurvedic Medical Practitioner by profession holds a penchant for armwrestling, too. A renowned champion, she has won several awards and trophies and is actively involved in the Women’s Armwrestling Federation.Her brother, Manish Kiran Deshraj, is a reputed lawyer who also dabbles in real estate and insurance consulting. Her other two sisters are well-settled in the USA.
Confident, friendly, sensible, humble, passionate, hardworking and level-headed is the stuff Mreenal is made of. Education was always an important part of her upbringing. Mreenal graduated with Bachelors in Commerce and also has a degree in Fashion Designing from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
Mreenal believes that fitness and good health are the way to a sound body and zen mind. Rightfully so, she has won several medals and trophies in Women’s Armwrestling Championship and Spinning Marathon. Her interests also spill over to other facets of life such as travel, theatre, and spiritual healing. After a long day on the sets, Mreenal typically likes to unwind by way of dancing, glass painting, candle-making, swimming and adventure sports.

Mreenal credits her acting skills to her experience in theatre. She considers herself fortunate to be a part of some of the leading names in theatre such as Paritosh Painter’s Hindi comedy Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai and his English play Amar, Akbar and Tony, Vipul Mehta's Hum Le Gaye Tum Rahe Gaye with Javed Jaffery, Ramesh Talwar's Dr.Mukta with the legendary Jaya Bachchan and Nadira Babbar's Yaahudi Ladki.

The turning point in Mreenal’s career occurred when she received wide appreciation and recognition for her role in,

Mreenal’s rising popularity fetched her several roles as a negative lead in serials like:

A self-confessed fashionista, Mreenal strut the ramp for designer Libas at the Lakme Fashion Week, walked twice as a showstopper for shows in Chandigarh and Delhi, walked for Sonalika Pradhan’s brand Vitamin A and as a Celebrity Model at a Royalty Night Club show in Mumbai.
